Halloween is the one time of year you can transform yourself into anything you want to be – that is of course if you can make a costume decision on time. Hands up if you’ve ever experienced the panic of trying to find a last-minute outfit. Every year we tell ourselves we’ll plan well in advance but let’s be honest, that never ends up happening.

It’s ok, we understand that it’s a difficult decision to make. It has to be better than last year’s but still be creative and simple enough to make at home. We don’t ask for much, do we? Naturally our first course of action is to get straight on Pinterest and search for anything we can use as inspiration. Well Swans, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve found some SPOOKtacular Halloween makeup looks for you this year. And the best part? They’re all budget friendly!

The ‘Walking Dead’ Zombie

Topical! The eighth season of this epic series has just begun airing so we’re feeling this look. This has to be one of our favourites for Halloween and while it may be simple to create, it requires a lot of DEADication to get right. If you’re as obsessed with ‘The Walking Dead’ as we are, this is definitely for you! All you’ll need to become one of the living dead is the W7 Smokin’ Shades Eye Colour Palette and the Technic Pro Finish Raspberry Eyeshadow Palette as well as some generic white face paint.

Start off by applying the white paint as a base colour to make your skin deathly pale. Now it’s time for shading! Use your eyeshadow palettes to apply colour around your temples, eyes and jaw line – it’s best to stick to dark, earthy shades for this step. Swans, the key to perfecting this look is blending! The last thing you want is to end up looking like a raccoon. Make sure you blend all colours evenly to hollow out your face enough without it turning into a skeleton mask!

The Classic Cat

People always complain about cat makeup being an easy way out of a costume dilemma; to them we say, what’s wrong with that? Simplicity often goes a long way and this look is definitely proof of that. Forever on trend and always affordable, this is a PURRfect last minute option! In order to become a fierce feline you’ll need the Amazing Shine False Eyelashes Style 138, the Royal Lashed Out Felt Pen, the W7 Smokin’ Shades Eye Colour palette and the Technic Nude Lip Liner Pencil.

Begin by creating a smoky eye – the key here is to blend like a boss - before moving on to your eyeliner. It’s time to wing it ladies. You’ll need a steady hand and strong focus for this stage – a single wrong movement could cause a CATastrophe to the rest of your look. Draw on your eyeliner using the Royal Lashed Out Pen starting with the wings and moving in and across your upper eyelid. Add a nose and whiskers using the same eyeliner pen and move on to fill your lips using the Technic Nude Lip Liner. Add a dash of drama to complete the look, apply your Amazing Shine lashes and you’re ready to go!

The Not-So-Wicked Witch

What do we love about this look? It’s simple, magical and so easy to create! While we’re no witch experts, we do know that witches don’t always have green faces – remember Sabrina? – so don’t worry if you don’t have a pot of green paint at hand for this one. All you’ll need to make this Halloween classic is the green Saffron Metallic Eye Pencil, the purple Saffron Metallic Eye Pencil, the Royal Lashed Out Black Eyeliner Pen, the Royal Lashed Out Dramaticeyes Mascara, the Technic Red Lip Liner and one resting witch face.

Start with the Saffron Metallic Eye Pencil in green and colour in the whole of your eyelids – we’re using this instead of eyeshadow to get a more dramatized shimmer. Now it’s time to add some sharp wings! If you struggle with symmetry, here’s a tip ladies: always start with the end of the wing and move inwards as it’s easier to mirror your eyeliner this way. Use the purple Saffron Metallic Eye Pencil under your waterline to make your eyes pop, then finish by using the Technic Liner to create a bold red lip. Bow down witches, you’re now party ready!

The Vampire

This all-time favourite has a pretty big fang club which we’re definitely a part of. You’ll need the W7 Face Shaping Contour Stix, the Technic Pro Finish Raspberry Palette, the W7 Strobe Time Shimmering Powder Kit, the Technic Eyeliner Pencil, the Technic Red Lip Liner Pencil and the Amazing Shine False Eyelashes Style 601 to create this FANGtastic look – we promise it’s simpler than it sounds.

Let’s begin by heavily contouring under your cheek bones, along the sides of your nose and around your forehead to make your facial features stand out and give you a more chiselled vampire-like appearance. In order to look completely deprived of sunlight, you’ll need to generously dust your lightest shade of shimmer powder across the highest points of your face – under the eyes, on top of cheekbones, across your chin, nose and forehead. Use the blood red shade from your eyeshadow palette over the whole of your eyelids before blending a little black onto the outer parts to create a simple smoky eye. Now Swans, we know that lashes are a real pain in the neck to apply – get it? – but this look will be incomplete without them so it’s time to apply yours. Finish off by lining your lips with black and applying red over to create a bloodstained look.

If you don’t have time to get an elaborate costume this Halloween these easy makeup tutorials are the answer to your prayers on this most terrifying of nights. The only question is, which one will you choose?
